Rue McClanahan

My darling friend, Rue McClanahan, died early this morning. There's so much to celebrate about this wonderful, magical being. But right now, I just want to share this from the final pages of Rue's memoir, My First Five Husbands...and the Ones Who Got Away:
Even as a child I had a strong feeling that life is good. I had a passion for work, an openness to love, and a penchant for joy. In a word, I had hope.

I still have it.

Go with God, Roo Boo.

Joni, this is so sudden. I am SO glad she got her memoir done, and that she had in you such a fine writer. May The Golden Girls stir a ruckus above us!
Joni,
I'm so sorry for your loss and the world's. I know how fond the two of you were of one another.

Hugs, and my condolences to Rue's family and friends.

Ten days ago, I spent the afternoon with Rue, sitting out in the sun at the very table where we did much of the book. She was working hard to recover from a stroke she had in January. Just wanted to get back to being an artist.

M, you'll be interested to know, she studied at Jacob's Pillow back in their hay day.
