Sara Bareilles' Awesome Musical Response to Know It Alls

Ever wanted the perfect musical response to a blistering rejection, scathing review, or soul-destroying editorial letter?

Thanks to Sara Bareilles, now we have one. "Who died and made you king of anything?" indeed!

Check out my go-to attitude adjustment, Colleen's-got-her-sass-back theme song! Or better yet, share your own.

Perfect!
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Colleen, that song came out just a little after I defended and it was my theme song. That, and Michael Posner's You Think You're Cooler Than Me. I listen to both of those when I need a pick me up and when I need to be reminded that the "snotty literati" are but a tiny sliver of the whole fiction and writing pie, and that there are gracious, welcoming, helpful writers out there in the world--like you and Mylene and Joni! Seriously, I just cannot thank you all enough for all you've done for me by letting me participate in this blog. It's done wonders for my confidence levels!

Now I will reign in my gratefulness and put my head back down in my work. Sounds like we're all up to our eyeballs right now! :)

As corny as it sounds, I love Martina McBride's ANYWAY, particularly these lines:
You can chase a dream that seems so out of reach
And you know it might not ever come your way
Dream it anyway

Thanks, T.J.! I'll have to add that to my writing playlist. And talk about CORNY--I actually do have, on my MP3 player, a PLAYLIST that is called Ignite, which has motivating songs for me as a writer. I listen to them when I'm down or when I'm close to a deadline and just need to be revved up. Unwritten also used to be one of my go-to songs, because it came out right about the time I "turned pro."
